Koi originate from East Asia, and are especially popular in Japan; where they symbolise wealth, love & prosperity! - There are over 20 varieties of Koi, all varying in colour and they can reach up to 3ft long! - Koi are omnivores, and will eat just about anything given to them. They can also be trained to eat out your hand! - The age of Koi is determined by the rings around their outer scales; one ring for every two years. They have a typical lifespan of 30 years, but can easily live to be 100 years old! - The oldest Koi on record lived to be 226! Named Hanoko, he was born in 1751 (before Mozart!) and lived through to 1977!
